Press release: Interim results of bottom moraine sampling in Vindelgransele area

(AktieTorget: BOTX). In parallel with the evaluation of known mineralisations and deposits; Vargbäcken, Middagsberget, and Fäbodtjärn (Fäbodliden C); Botnia has continued to generate new targets for gold exploration. Botnia’s prospectors have during three years made several new findings of gold-bearing boulders in the Vindelgransele area, which together with historical findings point at new areas for further exploration.

Some of the boulder trails that the gold-bearing boulders constitute have now been investigated by bottom moraine sampling. Sampling and analysis of the bottom moraine close to the rock surface will further define the area for follow-up by core drilling.
The bottom moraine sampling was performed by a contractor with many years of experience and with bottom moraine sampling as speciality. For the sampling, a terrain drill rig equipped with top hammer and a flow type sampler was used. The samples have been mapped and the fine fractions (-180 microns) have been analysed. The analysis at ALS laboratories comprises gold and 51 other elements. During the entire sampling, methods for quality control according to international praxis, including certified standard samples, were used.
The sampling was performed in December 2013 and January 2014. Sampling and off-road driving on snow in wintertime minimise the ground damages and facilitate the availability. Positive consultations with affected landowners and Sami villages have been conducted.
In total 358 samples have been taken and the results for 226 of the samples have been received from the laboratory. The results for the remaining samples are expected during March. The sample depth has varied between 1 and 14 m, with the largest sample depths in the Forsheden area and mainly moderate sample depth, below 5 m, in the Jägarliden-Middagsberget area.
The analyses show increased contents of gold over the known mineralisations tested by the sampling; Middagsberget and Fäbodtjärn (Fäbodliden C); and over other areas not yet investigated by core drilling. Botnia is planning for follow-up core drilling over the new target areas, generated by the bottom moraine sampling. Further information about the sampling and the follow-up will be reported when all analyses are received from the laboratory.
This winter’s core drilling in Fäbodtjärn (Fäbodliden C) is coming to its end, where visible gold has been shown in several holes. An evaluation of the acquired geological information and the coming analysis results is in progress and will be reported later.
