Press release: Promising results from bottom moraine sampling in Vindelgransele area

(AktieTorget: BOTX). All analysis results from the extensive bottom moraine sampling in Vindelgransele this winter have now been received from the laboratory. Several samples taken south of Fäbodtjärn (Fäbodliden C) and south of Middagsberget contain increased contents of gold and of other substances indicative for gold mineralisation.

The sampling was planned in Jägarliden, Åströms and Forsheden, three areas with many interesting boulder findings. By the bottom moraine sampling, Botnia wants to advance the targets with gold-bearing boulders into drilling objects.
One part of the moraine sampling was made over two known mineralisations, Fäbodtjärn (Fäbodliden C) and Middagsberget, to test and calibrate the sampling method. In several places in the Jägarliden area, gold contents have been found in the moraine which are comparable to or exceeding the contents at the reference places. The higher gold content in the bottom moraine occurs in a relatively thin layer in two areas. One area 1 km south of Fäbodtjärn (Fäbodliden C) and another 1 km south of Middagsberget. The contents in the moraine in these new targets are in the region of 0.05-2.78 g/tonne Au over distances up to 400 m, with 5 samples over 0.1 g/tonne and 17 samples over 0.05 g/tonne Au.
The bottom moraine sampling was performed by a contractor specialised in the sampling method. A flow type sampler driven by a top hammer drill collected the sample from the appropriate depth in the moraine layer. The flow type sampler driven by a top hammer drill was mounted on a terrain tracked vehicle. Over 350 samples from the bottom part of the moraine layer was collected from a depth between 1 and 14 metres. The samples were taken every 50 m along lines separated by 100 m. The analysis, made at an accredited laboratory, was performed on fine fractions of the moraine sample. The sampling and the sample preparation were conducted according to proven and internationally accepted methods, including standard samples for quality assurance of the analysis result.
None of the areas with increased contents of gold, shown by the moraine sampling, are previously tested by core drilling and few outcrops are known in the area. The information about the local geology is now extended by dense geophysical measurements, so that a follow-up by core drilling can be planned in detail.
”It is very exciting that we are now approaching the source rock of potentially two new mineralisations in the Vindelgransele area and that our effort in bottom moraine sampling has given such successful results. The next step in these two areas will be to plan for exploration drillings, with the prospect of finding the source rock”, says Bengt Ljung, CEO for Botnia Exploration Holding AB.
